New Jersey Solar Power: #2 in America

Never a Better Time to Get Started with New Jersey Solar Power

NJ solar panel companyRight now, New Jersey has the best incentives in the US for installing solar power for good again your home. Current incentives make solar energy installations pay for themselves in just three years in some cases.

The result of this is that New Jersey has become America's #2 state for solar installations, after California. This was an easy choice for the 6,000 New Jersey homeowners who have solar power. They know they can get up to half off the cost of a $75,000 installation.

Solar power pays off over the long run too. In New Jersey, we pay almost double the US average for energy per kilowatt hour. With solar energy, most homes produce enough energy to power their home and sell some back to the grid. This can be very lucrative for families.

Current tax credits give homeowners up to 30% off the cost of the installed system. The rest of the tax breaks come from state incentives aimed at increasing New Jersey's renewable energy industry to provide 20% of our 9 million residents.

I recommend my clients think about going solar before these incentives expire. Getting a NJ electrician to help you reduce your energy consumption is a great way to cut your monthly bills, and it's good for the environment too.

New Jersey Energy Master Plan and Your Electric Bill

New Jersey energy master planWhat is the future of the New Jersey energy master plan?

Since 1987, the New Jersey legislature has been required to perform an energy master plan review every 10 years. This review sets out New Jersey's long-term strategy for energy usage and conservation.

Governor Chris Christie, elected last November, is currently taking a close look at former Governor John Corzine's plan. Some believe that the new plan could call for more renewable energy sources in New Jersey, like wind power and solar power. Some New Jerseyans are concerned that such measures might raise electric and gas prices.

Governor Christie has made it clear that he wants to improve the energy master plan. He may decide to amend aggressive goals such as reducing New Jersey's consumption of energy 20% before 2020. You may also revise the goal to generate as much as 30% of the electricity in New Jersey with renewable sources of power.

In any event, it's always a good idea to consider how you can start saving energy in your New Jersey home as soon as possible. I recommend making sure that your water heater is efficient, since heating water can take up to 40% of your home's energy. Another great measure is to install (NJ) attic and ceiling fans in your home producer need for air-conditioning. Finally, using solar lights for your NJ outdoor lighting can reduce your electric bill, while beautifying your garden and providing greater safety and security for your home.
