What is the future of the New Jersey energy master plan?

Since 1987, the New Jersey legislature has been required to perform an energy master plan review every 10 years. This review sets out New Jersey's long-term strategy for energy usage and conservation.

Governor Chris Christie, elected last November, is currently taking a close look at former Governor John Corzine's plan. Some believe that the new plan could call for more renewable energy sources in New Jersey, like wind power and solar power. Governor Christie has made it clear that he wants to improve the energy master plan. He may decide to amend aggressive goals such as reducing New Jersey's consumption of energy 20% before 2020.
